Haaland gives Norway victory
The Norwegian striker scored late on in the home game against Austria, while Leipzig’s Slovenian was outstanding in the win over Kazakhstan
Norway hosted and beat Austria by the narrowest of margins , 2-1, this Monday, in the second round of the Nations League , recovering after a goalless draw in Kazakhstan .
Sorloth set up Myhre for the first goal of the match in the ninth minute, but Sabitzer levelled the score again, following a pass from Wimmer in the 37th minute. It looked like both teams were going to take another point (the Austrians drew 1-1 with Slovenia ), but then Erling Haaland appeared in the 80th minute. His goal was immediately disallowed for offside, but after a VAR review, the refereeing team allowed it to stand. The Slovenians beat Kazakhstan 3-0 thanks to a great performance by Benjamin Sesko , who scored a hat-trick. The Leipzig forward scored twice in the first half, consecutively (23′ and 28′), and then scored the third in the second, in the 63rd minute, assisted by Janza . The first was a true work of art, as he beat several players and then chipped the ball over the goalkeeper.
With the triumph of both teams, the two move to the shared leadership of the league table of group 3 of League B, each with four points, although Portugal ‘s opponent in the round of 16 of Euro 2024 has the advantage in goal difference (plus two).
