Haaland named Premier League player of the month

Erling Haaland has been named player of the month for August 2024 after a historic start to the season with Manchester City. The Norwegian won the award after scoring seven goals in three games, the most goals ever by a player in his first three Premier League games.

The forward’s displays included successive hat-tricks against Ipswich Town and West Ham, as well as a goal against Chelsea, to help Manchester City start the season with three wins from three games.

“I’m delighted to have won this award so early in the season. I’m also very grateful to my teammates, the coaches and the technical staff for helping to make this happen,” Haaland told Manchester City’s official website.

“August was a brilliant month for the team and I’m proud to have played a big part in that. To have scored seven goals in three games last month is fantastic, but I’ll keep working hard and improving my game,” he said.

The 24-year-old Norwegian wins the award for the third time, having also won it in August 2022 and April 2023.
