Harry Kane: “The more they doubt, the more we want to prove them wrong”
Bayern forward was the hero of the game against Finland and took the opportunity to respond to criticisms made of the England team
It was not an easy challenge at all, but England managed to beat Finland (2-0), in a match counting towards the second round of the Nations League B. The star of the match was Harry Kane who, in addition to playing his 100th game for the Three Lions, also scored the two goals that sealed the victory.
At the end of the match, speaking to ITV, the England captain spoke about his great performance and also took the opportunity to respond to the criticism that the Three Lions have been subject to: “It was a great night for me, I’m very proud. I want to score goals and help the team. The more people doubt us, the more we want to prove people wrong. I’m always betting on myself to score goals and I’m excited about the future.”
Could that future involve Lee Carsley? Kane doesn’t know, but the England forward was enthusiastic about the work of Southgate’s replacement: “The manager arrived with great energy, he talks a lot about freedom, attacking and damaging teams. Of course there is room for improvement, but it’s a great start for him.”
