Laliga: Fábio Silva misses debut for Las Palmas against Ath. Bilbao
The Portuguese forward came on in the 63rd minute and came close to scoring, while Dário Essugo remained on the bench
Fábio Silva ‘s season at Las Palmas did not start in the best way , as they lost at home to Athletic Bilbao (2-3), with the player on loan from Wolverhampton coming on in the second half and making his debut for his new club, unlike Dário Essugo , who did not come off the bench.
The Basques were comfortably leading at half-time, 2-0, thanks to goals from Sancet and Nico Williams in the 7th and 30th minutes respectively, both assisted by Iñaki Williams . However, a direct sending off of Jauregizar in the 56th minute put the visitors back in the game, especially as Sandro Ramírez reduced the deficit immediately after that foul, with a free kick.
With the Portuguese forward back on the pitch, who even came close to scoring with a header, Iñaki Williams got his hat-trick of assists, with Aitor Paredes giving the visitors back their two-goal lead. Even so, the visitors did not give up and reduced the deficit again in the 83rd minute, through Muñoz, but it was not enough and At. Bilbao added another three points.
At the end of the fifth round of La Liga , Valverde’s team is in eighth place, with two wins ( Valencia and this Sunday’s opponent), two defeats ( Barcelona and Atlético Madrid ) and a home draw ( Getafe ). Las Palmas, on the other hand , remains in the relegation zone, with just two points, due to draws with Real Madrid and Sevilla , having also lost to Leganés and Alavés .
