Meet the beautiful family of Barcelona goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny

Szczęsny’s family

Wojciech Szczęsny is a Polish goalkeeper, born on 18 April 1990 in Warsaw, Poland. He is considered one of the best goalkeepers of his generation and a key player for both club and country. Szczęsny began his career with Polish club Agrykola Warsaw, but soon moved to the Legia Warsaw academy. At the age of 16, he moved to English Premier League club Arsenal, where he developed and began to gain prominence. After spending time in the youth ranks and being loaned to Brentford (an English second division club), Szczęsny made his debut for Arsenal’s first team in 2009. During his time at Arsenal, Szczęsny stood out for his fine saves and bold style, although he also had his share of inconsistency. He won two FA Cups with Arsenal, in 2014 and 2015. However, the arrival of Petr Čech in 2015, combined with some disciplinary issues, meant he lost his place in the team. In 2017, Szczęsny transferred to Juventus, where he really found stability and established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in European football. At Juventus, he started out as a backup to Gianluigi Buffon, but became a regular after Buffon’s (temporary) retirement. He won several Serie A titles and the Coppa Italia with the Turin side. Szczęsny has been the first-choice goalkeeper for the Polish national team for many years and has represented the country in several international competitions, such as the European Championship and the FIFA World Cup. Despite having some ups and downs in major tournaments, he remains a crucial figure for the team.

Szczęsny’s mother played for the national handball team and her father was a football star. Alicja and Maciej Szczęśni fell in love and married in 1986. They had three children, but their family was quickly struck by tragedy.
Their daughter, Natalia, died tragically when she was not yet two years old. It was 1987 when Mrs. Alicja went for a walk with her child. At one point, a beating fell on the little girl. The terrified mother noticed that Natalia was covered in blood. Although the ambulance arrived very quickly and the fight for life lasted two days, the child could not be saved.
Alicja and Maciej Szczęśni recalled the time when they cared for their child differently

Just like Wojciech Szczęsny, Jan Szczęsny was also passionate about football since he was a child and linked his future to this sport. Many years ago, it was predicted that an ambitious footballer would have a world-class career. Unfortunately, reality turned out to be brutal and Szczęsny had to give up his big dreams to follow in his father’s footsteps.
Injuries prevented me – he admitted in 2011 in an interview with gol24.pl. – I didn’t play football for three years. I broke all the ties, all the connections and muscles in my shoulder. I was still in the Warsaw Guard during the camp in Giżycko. I fell badly and broke my shoulder. After the second surgery, I was told that if I continued playing football, my hand would become completely disabled and I wouldn’t be able to lift even a cup of tea with it.
Wojciech Szczęsny also had a sister, but unfortunately she died when he was a child.
