MONACO GAVE!

Monaco hosted Barcelona on Thursday to conclude the first round of the Champions League. The home side had an extra player for almost the entire match and were able to take advantage of their numerical superiority to come away with the win. Akliouche opened the scoring for the home side, Lamine Yamal scored Barça’s goal and Ilenikhena, who came off the bench, scored the goal that secured the victory for the French team, who had not participated in the Champions League since 2018.

REPEATING THE PRE-SEASON…

Monaco have defeated Barcelona for the second time in 2024, the first time in an official match. The team led by Adi Hütter beat the Catalan team in the Joan Gamper Trophy. On that occasion, the Monegasque club beat their opponents 3-0 in Spain. Today’s victory was Monaco’s first in an official match in the history of the match, as the club had been defeated by Barça in the two previous games, played in the 1993/94 Champions League.

VANDERSON’S BRIGHTNESS

Right-back Vanderson was one of the standout players in Thursday’s match. To begin with, the 23-year-old played as an improvised left-back and had an excellent performance. He provided the beautiful passes for Akliouche and Ilenikhena’s goals. In addition to his good offensive performance, he won most of the duels in defense despite being outplayed by Yamal in Barcelona’s goal.
