New Club World Cup will have standard World Cup-sized pitches
FIFA has advanced negotiations with seven stadiums to host tournament matches in 2025
The new FIFA Club World Cup , whose first edition will be held in 2025, in the United States, with 32 teams, will be played entirely on natural grass and with dimensions of 105m x 68m, in the standard size of the World Cup.
Three Brazilian clubs are already guaranteed among the 32 qualified : Flamengo , Fluminense and Palmeiras . There could still be one more, if Botafogo or São Paulo or Atlético-GM win the current edition of the Conmebol Libertadores .
According to ge , FIFA is in advanced negotiations with seven stadiums to host matches of the tournament . They are:
Metlife Stadium – New Jersey/New York
Red Bull Stadium – New York
Rose Bowl – Pasadena
Lumen Field – Seattle
Mercedes-Benz Stadium – Atlanta
Hard Rock Stadium – Miami
Inter & Co – Orlando
It is likely that another stadium will complete this list, as FIFA plans to have eight arenas at the tournament . What has already been decided and is not at risk of change is the size of the fields and the type of grass. FIFA is not giving up on having fields with the same dimensions as the World Cup: 105 meters by 68 meters, and all with natural grass.
This year, the Copa América was played in the United States — on some fields that will also be used in the Club World Cup — on pitches measuring 100 meters by 64 meters . The reduced dimensions were the target of complaints from Brazilian players and coaching staff.
FIFA will also announce the date of the group draw and how the pots will be divided and the seedings will be determined. A new trophy, different from the one used in the annual Club World Cup, will be designed. The organization is expected to present it later this year.
So far, 30 of the 32 participating teams are known. The competition will take place between June 15 and July 13 next year.
