Official: Barcelona renew with midfielder who suffered serious injury
Marc Bernal will remain with the Blaugrana for three more seasons after his U19 status ends in 2026

Barcelona officially renewed the contract of Marc Bernal on Monday , a 17-year-old midfielder who will be out of action for a year after suffering a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament, affecting the meniscus in his left knee.
In a statement, the Catalan club stressed that it had reached an agreement with the Spanish player to adapt to his previous contract, and that he will now remain with the Catalans for a further three seasons when, in 2026, his status as an under-19 player ends.
Furthermore, the player trained at La Masia will now have a release clause of 500 million euros.
Marc Bernal convinced Hansi Flick during pre-season and was the German coach’s choice at the start of the season. On matchday 3, against Rayo Vallecano , the 17-year-old midfielder ended up suffering a serious injury after a dispute for the ball with Isi Palazon , in the 90+7′ minute.
