Real Madrid come from behind to thrash Espanyol
Rodrygo, Endrick and Vini Jr. were involved in three of the four goals scored by the Merengue club
WHAT A TURN!
Real Madrid thrashed Espanyol this Saturday in the sixth round of La Liga, but the large score does not mean that the game was easy. In the first half, the home team pressed but failed to score. After the break, the visitors came back more focused and opened the scoring with a lucky goal from Cortouis. The scenario changed after Vini Jr. came on and Real Madrid paraded around the field. The goals of the game were scored by Carvajal, Rodrygo, Vini Jr. and Mbappé.
ANOTHER SCARE!
Real Madrid had another scare this season, this time against Espanyol. The team gave the opposing goalkeeper Joan García a boost, making several important saves and preventing the score from being opened in the first half. Early in the second half, the visitors opened the scoring with an own goal by Courtois. Vini Jr, who started on the bench, was called upon by Carlo Ancelotti and changed the team’s spirit. Three minutes after his entry, Carvajal tied the game. With the score tied, Real Madrid swallowed up the opposing team, turned the game around with Rodrygo and extended their lead with Vinicius and Mbappé, from the penalty spot.
THE BRAZILIAN BRIGHTNESS
Vini Jr. started a Real Madrid match on the bench for the first time this season. The number 7 sat down for the entire first half and was called upon by Carlo Ancelotti right after Espanyol’s goal. Real tied the game with Carvajal and the Brazilians began to shine shortly after. Vinicius received the ball from Mbappé and gave a beautiful pass with his outside of the foot for Rodrygo to tap into the goal and turn the game around. Then, the number 7 received the ball from Mbappé and flicked it past goalkeeper Joan García. Finally, Endrick, who came on to replace Rodrygo, was held by Carlos Romero on the right wing. The number 16 withstood the foul from the opponent and managed to invade the area. The penalty was awarded and Mbappé gave the final score.
