Trubin concedes three goals in Ukraine’s defeat in Prague and Georgia continues to live the dream
Second defeat in as many games in the Nations League B division for the Ukrainians
Defeated by Albania in the opening round, Ukraine lost again in the Nations League , this time in Prague, against Czech Republic , by 2-3, in a game in which Anatoliy Trubin , Benfica ‘s goalkeeper , was again a starter in goal for the eastern team.
In the 21st minute, the score opened in the capital, with Pavel Sulc , a Plzen player , beating Trubin for the first time. The Ukrainians reacted, equalizing in the 37th minute, through Vladyslav Vanat , but the Czech Republic went into the break in the lead, thanks to Sulc’s second goal in the 45+2′.
Within the final 10 minutes, West Ham midfielder Tomás Soucek scored the home team’s third goal, with the ball going one way and Trubin converting a penalty kick. Georgiy Sudakov, Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder and one of the Ukrainians’ leading figures, scored in the 84th minute to make it 3-2 in favour of the Czech Republic .
In the other group game, Georgia continued their great form. Willy Sagnol’s team, one of the big surprises of the European Championship, went to Albania to seek another three points, with Giorgi Kochorashvili’s goal in the 71st minute making all the difference.
