Zidane’s son retires from football at 29
Enzo’s last team was Fuenlabrada, in Spain’s third division.
Enzo Zidane, Zidane’s eldest son, has decided to retire from football at the age of 29. The player, who also played as a midfielder, played for Fuenlabrada, in Spain’s third division, in 2023, in his last contract.
Enzo has been without a club since July 2023. Since then, he has received some offers, but he was not encouraged and decided to hang up his boots.
Enzo was trained in the youth ranks of Real Madrid, where he spent 13 years. He made his debut for the first team in November 2016. At the time, Zidane was the team’s coach and put his son on the bench in the second half of a Copa del Rey match against Cultural Leonesa. Enzo scored one of the goals in the 6-1 victory.
In 2017, Enzo Zidane signed for Alavés, but only played four games and failed to establish himself. He then played for several smaller clubs, such as Lausanne (Switzerland), Rayo Majadahonda, Almería and Fuenlabrada (Spain), Aves (Portugal) and Rodez (France).
Zidane has three other sons with careers in football. Luca, a goalkeeper, plays for Granada; Theo, a midfielder, plays for Córdoba; and Elyaz, a defender, plays for Betis.
