The behaviour of Atlético de Madrid fans during the Champions League match against Benfica will cost the Spanish club dearly. According to information from AS, the UEFA Appeals Committee fined the Colchoneros 30 thousand euros due to racist and discriminatory behaviour by Atlético de Madrid fans during the match at Luz.
The aforementioned outlet claims that some of Atlético Madrid ‘s ultras were seen making Nazi salutes, which resulted in UEFA sanctioning them. In addition to the fine, the European football governing body went further and will ban the sale of tickets for an Atlético Madrid away game if such incidents happen again within a year.
Atlético de Madrid will return to the European stage on October 23, to host Lille .
