Bayern Munich relied on Musiala’s brilliance to advance in the German Cup. The young midfielder scored three goals and was the star of the Bavarians’ 4-0 win over Mainz on Wednesday, away from home. Sané also found the net for the visitors.

The win means Bayern have reached the round of 16 of the German Cup, having advanced from the second round. A draw will determine the Bavarian club’s opponent in the next stage of the competition. Bayer Leverkusen, Freiburg, Stuttgart, Cologne, Hertha Berlin, Eintracht Frankfurt, Werder Bremen, Wolfsburg, Karlsruher, Augsburg, Jahn Regensburg, RB Leipzig, Hoffenheim, Arminia Bielefeld and Darmstadt remain in contention

Musiala’s big night began with a goal just two minutes into the game and continued with two more in the first half. He extended his lead in the 37th minute, Sané scored in the 46th, and the 21-year-old added his third in the 49th. It was the first time in his career that he had managed a hat-trick. This brought his total to seven goals, in addition to four assists, in 11 appearances for Bayern Munich in the 2024/25 season.
