Deschamps and the controversy with Mbappé: “The employer is Real Madrid and not the Federation”

Didier Deschamps, France coach, has reacted to the controversy involving Kylian Mbappé . The forward started for Real Madrid against Villarreal after missing out on the French squad due to… injury.
“The employer is the club, not the Federation. There are players who are in a situation where they may have physical problems, and the clubs have always resisted players from going to the national teams and taking risks. I am not here to take risks. I was a coach of a club,” he began by saying, in statements to the French Football Federation (FPF) channel.
“For me, this relationship with the players, of discussing things directly with them, as well as having medical information with the exchanges between the clubs’ medical teams and ours… This leads me to make a decision, I repeat, for the player. And after saying that, I won’t say that it has increased, but it hasn’t decreased due to the schedule that the players have had at the clubs in the last three weeks, with three games per week. The overload of the schedule means that the clubs, which, I repeat, are the employers, are more vigilant in relation to their players,” he added.
