Deschamps reacts to Pogba’s return to the pitch
French coach revealed that he has already spoken to the player and that he is very happy for him
Didier Deschamps commented on Monday on the Court of Arbitration for Sport’s (CAS) decision to reduce Paul Pogba’s suspension from 4 years to just 18 months after a positive doping test at the start of last season.
The French coach was very pleased to see the Frenchman back on the pitch, but did not promise a return to the France squad : “There is this light that comes back. He will have some steps to take, but it is excellent news, he will be able to play again from March”, he said, before revealing that he has already spoken to the midfielder.
“I spoke to him at length on the phone, as I did throughout this period, which was very difficult for him,” he explained, talking about the various injuries he suffered in recent years and also the controversy with one of his brothers, who blackmailed him.
It remains to be seen whether the 31-year-old will continue at Juventus , but Deschamps prefers to focus on the positive: “It is still a heavy sanction, but not that heavy. Pogba knows that in March 2025 he will be a player again and, as he loves football and playing, it is excellent news for him,” he concluded.
