THE GAME

The first half was not the most exciting at the Helsinki Olympic Stadium. From the start, England had more possession of the ball, exchanging passes in the attacking half, but were unable to break through Finland’s defense. However, in the 17th minute, after a beautiful triangulation, Angel Gomes found Grealish inside the area. The midfielder, face to face with the goalkeeper, made no mistake and opened the scoring: 1-0. Trailing on the scoreboard, Finland tried to take more risks. However, they did not create many chances.

The second half was very similar to the first. England had more possession of the ball, but were unable to create any big opportunities. In the 28th minute, the English team was awarded a free kick just outside the box. Alexander-Arnold took the shot perfectly and extended the lead for England. Ten minutes later, in the 38th minute, Watkins, who had come on in the second half, carried the ball down the left flank of the attack, invaded the box and crossed low for Rice, who only managed to tap it in. In the 41st minute, Finland pulled one back. Walta took a corner kick and Hoskonen rose alone to head it in. 3-1.
