Guardiola received an offer from the England national team but turned it down

Thomas Tuchel is the new England manager , but Gareth Southgate’s successor could have been… Pep Guardiola. According to Spanish journalist Guillem Balague, the Catalan coach turned down an offer from the English FA.
“In fact, he was offered the job. He thought about it for two months and two months later he said: ‘No, because I don’t even know what I’m going to do at the end of this season’,” the journalist shared with BBC Radio.
“At the moment, Manchester City think he is closer to staying than leaving, but nobody knows for sure. What seems clear is that in the cycle between the next World Cup and the one after [2030], he will have a national team and England are the favourites,” he added.
Finally, a slight digression: “If Tuchel wins the World Cup, forget about that plan!”
