Haaland apologizes to fans for Norway defeat
The forward was captain in this Nations League match and took the blame
Norway ‘s heavy 1-5 defeat to Austria in Group B of the Nations League led striker Erling Haaland to apologise to fans and guarantee success in future games.
The Manchester City forward posted a picture of Norway ‘s starting XI against Austria and a message: “Sorry, we weren’t good enough. In November, our goal is to get all six points.”
Norwegian fans had some harsh messages for the players and coaching staff after the game in Linz, which is why Haaland , who was promoted to captain in the absence of Martin Odegaard, wanted to calm things down. Norway are looking to secure promotion to League A of the Nations League and are currently tied with Austria on seven points.
Three days earlier, Norway had beaten Slovenia 3-0, with Haaland becoming the team’s all-time top scorer with two goals (34 goals in 37 games), and he celebrated by announcing that he would soon become a father.
