Jota absent from Liverpool training due to injury
Against Chelsea, the Portuguese forward left the field with many complaints in his ribs
Diogo Jota was one of five Liverpool players who missed training on Tuesday due to injury. The team is preparing to travel to Leipzig this Wednesday for the Champions League , and its coach has already practically confirmed that the Portuguese international will not be present for that match.
“I don’t know when Jota will be back but I would be surprised if I see him on the pitch on Wednesday,” Arne Slot told a news conference. Conor Bradley , Federico Chiesa , Harvey Elliott and Alisson are also expected to miss the match in Leipzig due to fitness problems.
]Jota started the Reds ‘ game against Chelsea last Sunday, but left the field in the 30th minute, after a violent collision with Tosin Adarabioyo , in which the centre-back fell on top of the Portuguese player’s ribs.
If confirmed, it will be a major loss for Liverpool. Jota has been Slot’s preferred striker at the start of the season, ahead of Darwin Núñez . Therefore, the former Benfica player is expected to start the game against Leipzig.
