Kvaratskhelia renovation stuck in (millions of) details
Napoli want to renew the Georgian star but have not yet reached an agreement with the player’s agent regarding his salary and release clause
Napoli have already begun negotiations to renew Khvicha Kvaratskhelia ‘s contract , despite the current contract between the two parties lasting until 2027. The goal he scored against Paulo Fonseca’s Milan on Tuesday highlighted the importance the forward has for the Neapolitans, who want to reward him with an improved contract. A process that, for now, presents some obstacles.
According to Tuttosport , the 23-year-old player earns a low salary for his preponderance in the team (1.6 million euros annually) and Napoli intend to increase it to five million euros. However, the player’s agent, Mamuka Jugeli, wants that amount to add up to eight or nine million euros annually.
Another disagreement between the agent and Napoli has to do with Kvaratskhelia’s release clause. The club does not want to designate a specific value, in order to obtain the highest return it sees fit when negotiating. Jugeli does not agree: he intends for the clause to be 80 million euros plus a commission for the agent, a reward for bringing the player to Naples, in 2022, from Georgian side Dinamo Batumi.
What is certain is that while negotiations are taking place, Kvaratskhelia continues to show performance on the field, being the team’s top scorer this season, with five goals scored.
