Liverpool announce Alisson will not return to the pitch until November
Thigh injury will rule out Brazilian goalkeeper for Reds’ important games and next FIFA internationals’ international break
Liverpool announced on Wednesday that Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson will be out of action until mid-November after suffering a thigh muscle injury during the Premier League win over Crystal Palace last weekend .
“Alisson Becker has suffered a hamstring injury and is not expected to return until after the next international break,” Liverpool said in a statement, referring to the FIFA World Cup finals in November.
During this period, in addition to being out of the Brazilian national team (he was cut in the current FIFA deadline), Alisson will miss important Liverpool games against Bayer Leverkusen, in the Champions League, and against Arsenal and Chelsea, in the Premier League.
Alisson was having a great match for Liverpool against Palace, with at least four great saves. However, around 30 minutes into the second half, when he kicked the ball away, the goalkeeper felt severe pain in the back of his right thigh and fell to the ground.
He had already missed two of Liverpool’s games this season with a muscle injury, against Bournemouth and West Ham, and was out for two months last season with a similar problem.
