Man. United approached German coach… and got turned down
Case occurred last summer
Stuttgart manager Sebastian Hoeness has been contacted by Manchester United management to discuss the possibility of taking over the reins of the historic English club and replacing Erik ten Hag.
The approach took place last summer, before the Red Devils ‘ management renewed Ten Hag’s contract until 2026, according to information released by the German newspaper Bild .
United’s directors had been keen to find out whether Hoeness would be interested in moving to Manchester, but the 42-year-old declined the option, preferring to stay at Stuttgart where he finished 2nd in the Bundesliga last season.
Hoeness remained at the club, with whom he has a contract until 2027, and United ended up renewing Ten Hag’s contract.
