Manchester United already have interim manager Ten Hag to sack
The Dutch coach’s future at the club will be discussed this Tuesday
Erik ten Hag has had a difficult start to the season at Manchester United and after going five games without a win in a row, the coach’s future will be discussed this Tuesday, in a meeting that will involve the club’s entire football structure.
With the coach’s dismissal a possibility on the table, the club already has a replacement in mind to take charge of the team in the short term: Ruud van Nistelrooy, who is currently Ten Hag’s assistant. The information is reported by The Guardian .
If the former striker, who spent five years of his playing career at Old Trafford, impresses, there is also the possibility of him becoming the team’s permanent manager, as happened with Solskjaer in 2019, after the Norwegian took over as interim manager following the departure of José Mourinho.
Van Nistelrooy was previously head coach of PSV in the 2022/23 season, having finished 2nd in the Eredivisie (seven points behind Feyenoord ) and won the Dutch Cup.
This scenario is then dependent on a hypothetical dismissal of Ten Hag, a decision that will be taken by the club’s management structure, composed of Omar Berrada (chief executive), Dan Ashworth (sporting director) and Jason Wilcox (technical director). This was a certainty given by Jim Ratcliffe, co-owner of the emblem.
Meanwhile, Thomas Tuchel has also started to be linked with the role of Red Devils coach .
