Maresca: “João Félix is fine, but there are other players who are fine too”
Chelsea manager praised the Portuguese international a lot, but highlighted the huge level of competition that exists within the squad
Since returning to Chelsea , João Félix has only started twice, having come on as a second-half substitute in five more matches, already racking up one goal and one assist this season.
Enzo Maresca took advantage of the Portuguese international’s presence at the press conference ahead of the clash with Panathinaikos in the Conference League to praise his player, but pointed out that there is a high level of competition in his squad.
“ João Félix is doing well, but there are other players who are doing well at the moment. It’s important for him and the others that they take advantage of the opportunity they get. Since João arrived, he’s been playing really well for us, it’s fantastic. I have nothing bad to say about him, I can only say good things, but there are players who aren’t playing, not because they’re not doing well during the week, but because the players who are playing at the moment are doing well,” he explained, confirming that he plans to give him more and more playing time.
«João just needs to keep working the way he is working and I hope that, from now on, we can give him more minutes and more opportunities», he concluded.
