“Mourinho and I were like boyfriend and girlfriend”
Paul Pogba spoke about his time working with the ‘Special One’ at Manchester United

It was José Mourinho who made Paul Pogba the most expensive player in football at the time in the summer of 2016. Manchester United signed the midfielder from Juventus for €105 million, but the relationship between the two has had its difficult moments, as Pogba has now explained in an interview with Mail Sport .
“Our relationship was like that of boyfriend and girlfriend, we were always breaking up and making up. We started off really well, he convinced me to go to United. I don’t know why it turned into a nightmare and we were fighting. Because I wasn’t the one who started the fight,” criticised Pogba.
“We could disagree, but I have a lot of respect for him. If I see him tomorrow I’ll give him a big hug. But one day we’ll have to talk about what happened,” said the 31-year-old.
The French World Cup winner later added that he had his best season at United following Mourinho’s departure: “When Jose left and Solskjaer came in, that was my best season at United.” In that 2018/19 season, Pogba scored 16 goals and provided 11 assists, but in the following three seasons he only scored a total of eight goals.
