Netherlands draws against Hungary in the Nations League
Van Dijk sent off in the second half but Dutch side draw with Dumfries; Sallai scored Hungary’s goal

Hungary and the Netherlands drew 1-1 at the Puskás Ferenc stadium in Budapest. The match was valid for the third round of the Nations League. The Netherlands started the game putting pressure on Hungary, but without being very effective. The first big chance of the match fell to the Hungarian team. In the 16th minute, after a corner kick, Sallai took a chance and hit the post. Even after the scare, the Dutch team had more possession of the ball. However, in the 36th minute, after a cross into the area, Salai, alone, opened the scoring.
In the second half, the Netherlands continued to have possession of the ball. They exchanged passes in the attacking half and managed to put pressure on Hungary. De Vrij, Reijnders, Simons and Brobbey all had chances, but ended up sending the ball wide. In the 33rd minute, the Netherlands were left with one less player. Van Dijk was sent off. Without their captain, the Dutch team went all out and, in the 37th minute, after a free kick, Dumfries appeared in the middle of the Hungarian defense to head the ball in and level the score. 1-1.
CAPTAIN EXPELLED
Defender Van Dijk was sent off for a second yellow card after a foul on Csoboth. The Dutch player had been booked a few seconds earlier for protesting. As a result, Van Dijk will miss the Netherlands’ next match against Germany on October 14.
