‘Obviously, I don’t watch football. For me, it’s no big deal’
A professional football player’s job goes beyond the pitch and includes participating in intense training sessions and watching videos about tactics, for example. With this routine, right-back Ben White once again said that he doesn’t like doing anything related to the sport in his free time.
The Arsenal player stressed that he does not hate football, but commented that he only wants to “disconnect” from the sport when he is away from work.
— Obviously, I don’t watch football. For me, it’s not a big deal. Training, the amount of videos that (an athlete) needs to watch every day, it’s a lot. So, when I get home, I just want to forget about it — , said Ben White in an interview with Ben Foster, from “Amazon Prime Video”.
White , 27, also said he doesn’t even talk about it when he’s at home, just like his family. “It’s like it’s not my job, basically,” he said.
The defender emphasized that he loves being a football player and prepares himself adequately to face each opponent. For him, the fact that he does not watch the matches does not mean that his performance on the field is impaired.
— It helps me when I get home, I completely de-stress and don’t think about it. The next day, I’m 100% focused — , highlighted the Gunners athlete.
Ben White’s life beyond football
With football as a forbidden topic in his free time, the player dedicates himself to other matters. One of them is the fashion brand Fraternité, which became a company founded by White and some friends.
In addition to the business, the full-back focuses on enjoying time with his two dogs. His plans after retirement are still uncertain, but they should be “simple,” as the athlete defined it.
— I don’t know what I’m going to do yet. I was thinking about becoming a dog walker, having a little van, something like that. I don’t need much — , he said.
While retirement is still awaiting, Ben White is determined to overcome his physical problems and recover from a groin injury. The player has not played for Arsenal since the 2-2 draw against City on September 22, and could be among those selected for this Saturday’s (19) duel against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium, a match valid for the Premier League
