Pep Guardiola approached to coach England
Manchester City coach’s contract is coming to an end
Lee Carsley has been in charge of the England team on an interim basis but has all but withdrawn from the running to take over permanently after Sunday’s game against Finland .
Carsley said the Three Lions deserve a “world-class” manager and the FA’s ambition is the same, which is why Pep Guardiola has been approached about the possibility.
The information is reported by The Times , which explains that there was an “informal contact” between the two parties at the beginning of this season, where Guardiola was proposed to take over the reins of the England team.
The same source explains that Guardiola has not given a definitive answer and is still evaluating his future. The Spaniard has a contract with Manchester City only until the end of the current season and his permanence at the club is still uncertain.
It is worth remembering that Txiki Begiristain, the City sporting director who helped hire Guardiola in 2015, will leave the club, where he will be replaced by Hugo Viana.
