Real Madrid renews contract with promising player born in 2007

Real Madrid have reportedly renewed the contract of Joan Martínez, a 17-year-old central defender who spent his last pre-season with the team led by Carlo Ancelotti before suffering a serious injury.

The guarantee is given by Marca , which advances the details of the agreement: a salary improvement, a termination clause of 50 million euros and a contract until June 2026, with the expectation that when the young man turns 18, he will sign a new, longer contract.

Martínez is currently recovering from a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, which has prevented him from playing any games this season. However, the club believes in the youngster’s potential and intends to integrate him into the first team as soon as he is physically fit.

Last August, Ancelotti, quoted by Mundo Deportivo , praised Martínez as follows: “He has everything a central defender needs, he is alert and very good with the ball. He has a lot of things to improve, but he can clearly have a future at Real.”
