River Plate stadium closed after fireworks display

Buenos Aires Municipal Police and the Government Control Agency found pyrotechnics even in the bathrooms of the Monumental

The Monumental, home of River Plate , was closed due to the fireworks display – something not permitted by CONMEBOL – by the fans of the millonarios before the match with Atlético Mineiro , for the second leg of the Libertadores semi-finals .

The Buenos Aires Municipal Police and the Government Control Agency found pyrotechnics in the sports venue and decided to close the stadium. According to Olé , pyrotechnic devices were even found in the Monumental’s bathrooms.
It was decided that the Monumental would be closed until the fine was paid, with the amounts not revealed.

The Monumental will host the Libertadores final , where Atlético Mineiro is already playing . Botafogo , led by Artur Jorge, and Penarol are fighting for the other spot and the team has a comfortable advantage for the second leg.
