Son Heung-min was named the best Asian footballer playing outside Asia. The award is for the year 2023, with the Korean Tottenham striker beating Mehdi Taremi , who, at the time under review, was playing for FC Porto . In addition to these two players, Jordan and Montpellier

striker Mousa Al Tamari was also nominated.

This is the fourth time Son has won the award, having previously been honoured in 2015, 2017 and 2019. The 32-year-old succeeds compatriot Kim Min-jae , who lifted the prize last year while playing for Napoli .
