Lille right-back Tiago Santos suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during team training on Tuesday and will not play again this season, the club said in a statement.

The 22-year-old Portuguese defender, who had been released from the under-21 squad days before due to an injury to his right ankle, suffered a new setback, this time in his left knee, which requires surgery.

The player will therefore be out of competition for several months, as Lille added in a statement.
