Tottenham striker’s father sentenced for child abuse
Former player and father of Heung-min Son receives complaints of assault at his football academy
Tottenham striker Heung-min Son’s father has been convicted of child abuse. South Korean Woong-jung Son will have to pay a fine of £3,000 after being involved in a controversy at his football academy.
According to the South Korean website, earlier this year, the parents of a player at Woong-jung Son’s academy said that their son was attacked by coach Heung-yun Son, who is the brother of the Tottenham player. In addition, the student and his teammates were also victims of verbal abuse.
Another unidentified worker at the site was also fined along with Heung-min Son’s family members. Each was ordered to pay the fine for violating the child welfare law. The punishment also includes 40 hours of child abuse education sessions. The three can still appeal.
