Gianluca Simeone, who plays in the fourth tier of Spanish football, is said to have made racist insults to an opponent during Sunday’s match
On the day that Giuliano Simeone scored his first goal for Atlético Madrid , it was another of Diego Simeone’s three sons, Gianluca, who was in the spotlight for an unfortunate incident.
The 26-year-old forward was accused of racism during the match between Guadalajara and Rayo Majadahonda (3-0), in a fourth-tier Spanish football match, which ended in defeat for his team, with the match being interrupted for two minutes, in injury time.
“In the 95th minute I had to stop the game and activate the racist insult protocol, because the number 18 player of Guadalajara, Julio Rafael Martínez Escorcia, told me that the number 9 player of Rayo Majadahonda, Gianluca Simeone Baldini, addressed him in the following terms ‘monkey of f…, nigger of f…’, and could not be heard by any member of the refereeing team, he notified the field delegate”, wrote Thierry Torres Rodríguez, the match referee, in his notes on the match, which were published on the website of the Federation (RFEF).
