La Liga postpones Valencia-Real Madrid and four more games
Catastrophe in the Valencian province puts football in the background
La Liga acceded to Valencia’s request and postponed the game against Real Madrid scheduled for Saturday, November 2, at the Mestalla.
The club had already been forced to postpone the Copa del Rey game with Parla Escuela, from the outskirts of Madrid, which was scheduled for Wednesday night, as it was unable to leave the city, and in view of the human tragedy in region, with devastating floods resulting from torrential rain, with around 95 deaths, requested a new postponement.
«At this difficult time, we would like to express our deepest condolences and affection to the families, relatives of the deceased and the victims of this catastrophe that has left us devastated and that puts football on a secondary level», says Valencia when sharing the postponement.
In total, five La Liga and La Liga 2 games were postponed: Villarreal – Rayo Vallecano, Valencia – Real Madrid, and also Castellón – Ferrol, Eldense -Huesca and Levante – Málaga.
Furthermore, it was also decreed that the two La Liga competitions will observe a minute of silence in memory of the victims of DANA. Three days of mourning were determined by the Generalitat from this Thursday until Saturday.
