Manchester United: Amorim takes time off before ‘accelerating’ for debut
Portuguese coach will have the most complete group on Thursday
All time is precious, given the difficult task of putting Manchester United on the right path, with the season underway, but Ruben Amorim decided to give the Red Devils squad a day off, this Wednesday.
The decision is related to the (un)availability of international players. The English team had 13 players playing for their respective national teams: Onana (Cameroon), Lisandro Martínez and Alejandro Garnacho (Argentina), Christian Eriksen and Rasmus Hojlund (Denmark), Diogo Dalot and Bruno Fernandes (Portugal), Matthijs de Ligt and Joshua Zirkzee (Netherlands), Altay Bayindir (Turkey), Victor Lindelof (Sweden), Manuel Ugarte (Uruguay) and Noussair Mazraoui (Morocco).
Ruben Amorim still had the full group this Wednesday, so he decided that the day would be one of rest and recovery work. The Portuguese coach hopes to count on these ‘reinforcements’ in the next training session, scheduled for Thursday morning, and thus accelerate preparation for the opening game, Sunday, at Ipswich .
Remembering that Viktor Lindelof , a former Benfica player , where he was a teammate of Ruben Amorim, was injured while serving the national team, and is expected to miss this debut game for the new Red Devils coach.
Amorim will have his first contact with the English press on Friday, at 1:30 pm, in a press conference before this game with Ipswich .
