Marseille beat Nantes to move into second place in Ligue 1
2-1 win equals points with Monaco
Marseille responded to their defeat by PSG in the best possible way. Roberto de Zerbi’s team visited and beat Nantes 2-1 and are now, along with Monaco, second in Ligue 1.
The away team were more dominant throughout the match and, unsurprisingly, Maupay scored in the 24th minute to give Marseille the lead. Nantes had a period of recovery and, 15 minutes later, they equalised through Kadewere . The game went into half-time with the score at 1-1.
In the second half, Marseille pressed to take the lead and, on the hour mark, Mason Greenwood made the difference. With a shot from the edge of the box, the Englishman scored his seventh goal in this season’s Ligue 1. Nantes still tried to get closer to the opponent’s goal, but it was Rabiot who hit the post.
Marseille are now level on 20 points with Monaco, both six behind leaders Paris Saint-Germain.
