Norway thrashes Kazakhstan and moves up in the Nations League
Norwegians are counting on Austria’s draw to take the lead and secure promotion to League A with a 5-0 win
Norway easily thrashed Kazakhstan on Sunday in the 6th round of Group 3 of League B of the Nations League. Haaland, Sortloth and Nusa scored the goals in the 5-0 victory at Ullevaal in Oslo, with three goals from the number 9. Austria drew 1-1 with Slovenia, which gave the Norwegians the lead, which guaranteed promotion to League A.
It wasn’t a difficult game for Norway. The home team scored three times in the first half and started to control the match. The result guaranteed access to the Norwegians, who watched the end of Austria vs. Slovenia on a cell phone on the field.
Austria drew 1-1 with Slovenia at the same time as the Norway-Kazakhstan match. The result leaves the Austrians on 11 points, while the Norwegians take the lead with 13 points and move up a division.
The first goal came in the 22nd minute. Nusa took advantage of a poor pass from the opposing defense to advance and finish. Pokatilov managed to palm the ball away, but Haaland was quicker and arrived to finish on the rebound and open the scoring.
In the 36th minute, Nusa crossed straight to Haaland, who headed in to score Norway’s second. The third came in the 41st minute. Kazakhstan’s defense cleared Nusa’s cross, but Sorloth was well positioned to finish into the corner and score the third.
Haaland scored his hat-trick in the 25th minute of the second half after dribbling past the opposition defenders. Nusa, who had already been involved in other goals, scored his in the 31st minute with a shot into the goalkeeper’s left corner.
Kazakhstan, which failed to score in League B and lost all six games, finished bottom of the group. Relegated, the team will play in League C in the next edition.
