Rodri sets date for return to the pitch
Spanish midfielder, who suffered a ruptured cruciate ligament in his right knee, wants to return this season but does not want to make mistakes
Rodri continues to recover from the serious injury – a ruptured cruciate ligament in his right knee – suffered in September against Arsenal , on the fifth day of the Premier League .
The Spanish midfielder, winner of the Ballon d’Or, is already thinking about returning to the pitch. Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has considered this season a lost one for Rodri , but the player does not think so.
“My idea is to return this season. I don’t consider the year lost. But I don’t want to make mistakes. My goal is to be ready in six or seven months. I’m recovering better than I thought. I’m taking advantage of the rest, if you can say that,” he said, speaking on the podcast The Rest is Football .
Rodri recalled the moment of the injury: “I didn’t feel any popping. The knee was stable. I was confident that it wouldn’t be anything serious. But now I have a positive mindset. The first month and a half were difficult in terms of pain. I couldn’t walk, but now it’s easier.”
