Ruben Amorim comments on Bruno Fernandes’ performance
The player played the full 90 minutes of the coach’s first match in charge of the ‘red devils’
Bruno Fernandes captained Manchester United in the 1-1 draw against Ipswich and Ruben Amorim analysed the performance of his compatriot, who played up front for the team, alongside Garnacho and Rashford .
“Bruno Fernandes improved when he started playing close to the ball. So he could give us the long pass, but we can’t put him there all the time so he can always make the long pass,” he told Sky Sports .
Amorim then stressed that he still needs to get to know the squad better to get the most out of it: «We’re going to try to find out a lot about the players, we’re going to need a lot of time to solve the problems. Garnacho, for example, can hold the ball between the lines, you can see that when you watch the games because he’s always open, so we’re trying to find these things. The 3x4x3 system isn’t a problem, what’s important is to understand the game and what we need to improve»
The Portuguese also spoke about the various media commitments he now has in England: «This week I spoke more than I did in four years at Sporting . But I understand that the game here is different»
