Scotland scores at the drop of the hat and beats Croatia in the Nations League
John McGinn was the figure of the match
Scotland keep alive their hopes of staying in the top division of the Nations League . On the fifth day of group 1 ( Portugal ‘s group ), the Scots hosted and beat Croatia 1–0.
In a balanced match, despite both teams showing a desire to score, the attacks were somewhat out of tune and, in the first half, the score remained the same.
In the second 45′, the home team was slightly superior, with more possession and more arrivals into the opponent’s final third. In the final stretch of the match, Dominik Kotarski saved a shot from Ben Doak, but the ball fell to John McGinn who, in the penalty area, shot into the back of the net, sending Hampden Park, in Glasgow, into delirium.
With this victory, Scotland drew level with Poland , who were thrashed by Portugal (5-1), with four points. In the last round of the group stage, the Scots and Poles will decide who will be relegated to the second division of the Nations League and who will go through to the relegation playoff.
