Aston Villa dominates the game and beats Manchester City
Guardiola’s team plays very badly again and is overtaken by Villa in the table
Summary
Aston Villa dominated from the start of the game and beat Manchester City 2-1 this Saturday in round 17 of the Premier League. The home team jumped up the table and are in 5th place, with 28 points. They overtook City, who have 27 and could lose more position as the round progresses.
What a phase of City
Guardiola’s side are now three games without a win in the Premier League. Overall, their last 12 matches this season have seen nine defeats, two draws and just one win.
The 90 minutes
Just one minute into the game, Aston Villa missed two incredible goals, with Durán, one-on-one, and Pau Torres, whose header was miraculously saved by Ortega. The ball was just a few millimetres over the goal line. However, shortly afterwards, Durán made no mistake and opened the scoring after an assist from Rogers. It was Rogers who scored the second goal, in a great move that he started. Along with Tielemans, both were the standouts of the game. City played a very poor game, with little creativity. Haaland barely touched the ball. Guardiola’s team scored in second-half stoppage time, with Foden.
