Just one minute into the game, Aston Villa missed two incredible goals, with Durán, one-on-one, and Pau Torres, whose header was miraculously saved by Ortega. The ball was just a few millimetres over the goal line. However, shortly afterwards, Durán made no mistake and opened the scoring after an assist from Rogers. It was Rogers who scored the second goal, in a great move that he started. Along with Tielemans, both were the standouts of the game. City played a very poor game, with little creativity. Haaland barely touched the ball. Guardiola’s team scored in second-half stoppage time, with Foden.
