Bayern Munich suffered their first defeat in the 2024/25 Bundesliga this Saturday. The Bavarian team was beaten 2-1 by Mainz, away from home, in a duel for the 14th round. Lee Jae-Sung stole the show by scoring both goals for the home team, Sané pulled one back for the visitors towards the end of the match.

The defeat means Bayern Munich’s lead at the top of the Bundesliga is now four points. The Bavarians remain top of the table with 33 points, but are closing in on Bayer Leverkusen, who reached 29 points after beating Augsburg 2-0 on Saturday. Eintracht Frankfurt, who only play against RB Leipzig on Sunday, could reach 30 points.

Mainz opened the scoring in the 41st minute, with Lee Jae-Sung scoring. The Bavarians tried to fight back, but were halted by another goal early in the second half: Lee Jae-Sung scored again in the 15th minute. The leaders were slow to reduce the deficit, with Sané scoring three minutes from time, and did not have time to equalize.
