Depay asks for Neymar’s return: “I would love to play with him at Corinthians”
Dutchman revealed conversation with Brazilian and talked about his first months in Brazil
In September 2024, Memphis Depay surprised everyone and signed a contract with Corinthians and, since then, he has lived up to the expectations placed on him, scoring six goals and providing four assists in 13 games for the Brazilian club.
“I am very happy to be here. I came with zero expectations, I came to help and, of course, to enjoy my career. I am 30 years old and I still have many years ahead of me. I want to thank the fans in the stadium, at home, all over Brazil , they welcomed me very well,” he began by saying.
One of the advisors on his move to the Brasileirão was Neymar , who, at the time, praised the Dutchman and has maintained contact with him. This week, the two met in São Paulo , and the former Atlético Madrid player revealed that he has once again asked for the Brazilian’s return.
“Ney knows what I told you. It’s between us, but of course he’s important for the country, a superstar, and has all the ability to lead Brazil to the World Cup title . I would love to play with him at Corinthians . Even though he supports Santos, I think he has a lot of Corinthians friends, we had a good time, he’s an inspiration to many. I hope the best and that he’s happy wherever he goes,” he concluded.
