One of the most memorable images from Ferran Torres’ childhood is a photo of him as a child. Ferran Torres García was born on February 29, 2000, in Foios, Spain. He is the first child and second of three brothers, the result of his parents’ marriage. Like other Spanish legends such as Andrés Iniesta, Xavi and Sergio Ramos, Ferran is an authentic Spanish citizen. He grew up in his hometown of Foios, along with his older sister, Arantxa, who was also his childhood best friend, and his younger brother, about whom little is known.

During his childhood in Foios, Ferran developed an intense passion for football. He loved watching matches on television and tried to replicate the skills of the players he admired. While some attempts were successful, others were not so successful, which often resulted in household accidents such as broken objects. Ferran Torres showed exceptional talent, which allowed him to progress quickly through the Valencia academy. At just 16 years old, he made his debut for the reserve team in October 2016. His skill and dedication quickly caught the eye, cementing his position as one of the brightest prospects in Spanish football.

Ferran’s consistency earned him promotion to Valencia’s B team for the 2017-18 season. In October 2017, the club extended his contract, showing confidence in his potential. Shortly after, in January 2018, he was integrated into the first team, where he quickly excelled in competitions such as the Copa del Rey, La Liga and the Champions League.

On 30 November 2017, Ferran made his first-team debut at Mestalla, during the second leg of the Copa del Rey round of 16 against Zaragoza. His first goal for the club came on 15 January 2019, when he scored in a 3–0 win against Sporting de Gijón in the round of 16 of the same competition.

In the 2019–20 season, Ferran established himself as a regular starter, playing 44 matches, scoring six goals and providing eight assists. During this period, he broke several records for the club’s youth system.

He left Valencia as the youngest player to reach 50 appearances for the club, aged 19 years and 324 days, a milestone he achieved on 23 November 2019, in a 2–1 defeat to Betis. During his time at the club, Ferran won the Copa del Rey and amassed 97 appearances, scoring nine goals and providing 12 assists.

On 4 August 2020, Manchester City announced the signing of Ferran Torres on a five-year contract until 2025 for a reported transfer fee of €23 million (£20.8 million). He inherited the number 21 shirt, previously worn by David Silva, another Spaniard who had joined from Valencia.

Ferran made his City debut in a 3–1 win against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League. On 30 September, he scored his first goal for the club, in a 3–0 win against Burnley in the League Cup.

He made his first Champions League appearance for City on 21 October 2020, when he scored in a 3–1 win over Porto. The following week, he scored again against Olympique de Marseille, becoming the youngest Spanish player to score in three consecutive Premier League games, aged 20 years and 241 days.

On 28 November, Ferran scored his first Premier League goal in a 5–0 win over Burnley. He later scored his first hat-trick for City in a thrilling 4–3 win against Newcastle United on 14 May 2021.

During the 2021–22 season, Ferran struggled with injuries and eventually agreed a move to Barcelona in December 2021. The deal was agreed for €55 million, with up to €10 million conditional.

On 28 December 2021, Barcelona and Manchester City confirmed the transfer of Ferran Torres. He signed a five-year contract, running until June 2027, which includes a €1 billion release clause.

Ferran’s first goal for Barcelona came on 20 January 2022, in a 3–2 defeat to Athletic Bilbao in extra time in the round of 16 of the Copa del Rey. On 20 March 2022, he scored and provided an assist in his first El Clásico, contributing to a 4–0 away win over Real Madrid. In his first six months with the club, he made 25 appearances and scored seven goals.

In the 2022–23 season, Ferran struggled with fitness and technique, often being overlooked by Ousmane Dembélé, Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski. However, on 19 February 2023, he had a standout performance in a 2–0 win over Cádiz. The following day, he revealed in an interview that he had been working with a psychologist to overcome his decline in performance.

On 21 January 2024, Ferran celebrated his 100th appearance for Barcelona with a hat-trick and an assist for João Félix, securing a 4–2 victory against Real Betis.

Later, on 11 December 2024, Ferran shone in a thrilling Champions League match against Borussia Dortmund, scoring two decisive goals to help Barcelona emerge victorious.
