Le Havre suspends fan… aged 6
Unusual punishment for a young fan of the Ligue 1 team
Le Havre , who sit 16th in Ligue 1 , have taken an unusually drastic step by banning a six-year-old fan from their stadium for upcoming matches, L’Équipe reports . The decision comes after the child threw cups and cardboard balls during Le Havre’s home game against Stade de Reims on November 10.
The projectiles fell onto the pitch, but did not enter the pitch. A source contacted by the newspaper explained the decision as follows: “It is a bit disappointing, but we have to take action on these issues and in the face of exacerbated behaviour. The stadium should continue to be a place to celebrate and not a place to vent our anger.”
This situation had also been considered in the match delegate’s report. The club analysed video surveillance footage to identify the minor, as well as his companion, who had bought the tickets and who was also suspended. The two fans will only be allowed back into the Le Havre stadium for the team’s home match against Brest on 26 January.
