Liverpool massacres Tottenham and increases the gap at the top
Salah takes sole possession of Premier League top scorer as Diaz ends seven-game Reds drought
Leader strolls into Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
Liverpool are not top of the Premier League for nothing. Against an opponent who had scored nine goals in their last two games, Arne Slot’s team were superior from start to finish and scored an impressive 6-3. Salah, the star of the game and the season, scored twice, the same number as Colombian Luis Díaz. Szoboszlai and Mac Allister scored the other goals for the Reds. Maddison, Kulusevski and Solanke scored.
The first 45 minutes saw the Premier League leaders struggle. Liverpool were the better team from start to finish, and with excellent performance from their midfielders, they opened up a good 3-1 lead. Luis Díaz ended a seven-game winning streak, and Mac Allister and Szoboszlai completed the scoring in the first half. The Argentine, number 10, only failed to deliver a perfect performance because he gave away Madisson’s goal.
In the second half, Liverpool maintained their impressive pace and, after 16 minutes, were already winning 5-1, with two frantic counterattacks. Kulusveski and Solanke managed to reduce the deficit, but at no point did the equaliser seem palpable. In the end, in another impressive counterattack, Luis Díaz, who had started the move, received the ball from Salah and closed the score at 6-3. A spectacle from the Reds!
Top scorer and 21-game unbeaten streak
Mohamed Salah is having a spectacular season. The best player on the pitch this Sunday alongside Szoboszlai, the Egyptian scored two goals and is now the Premier League’s top scorer, with 15 goals. He also provided the assist for Luis Díaz to close the scoring. This season, the number 11 has scored 18 goals and provided 15 assists.
Liverpool are now 21 games unbeaten, winning 18 and drawing three. Their last defeat came on 14 September when Arne Slot’s side lost 1-0 at home to Nottingham Forest.
