Nantes coach reacts to rumours about a possible return of Sérgio Conceição
French club has not won since August 31 and is second-to-last in the league
Sérgio Conceição has been linked to a return to Nantes in recent days by the French press. This Friday, Antoine Kombouaré, the French club’s coach, was asked about the news, but he focused on the need to turn around the difficult situation the team is going through. Nantes have not won since August 31st – 10 games in a row without a win – and are in second-to-last place in Ligue 1 .
“We approach the game against Rennes with a lot of confidence. We are in a difficult position, but we want to win. If there is a game to redeem ourselves, this is it. We know we are not in good shape, but I am here to find solutions,” he said at a press conference.
When asked again about the future, the coach did not hide his irritation: “I don’t take that into consideration. You do your job of transmitting information that you have or that you sometimes invent. I don’t need to respond. I stay focused. If you have any questions, you can ask the leaders and Mr. Quita [president]. I am an experienced man, as long as no one tells me to stop, I will continue with the same energy. I only have one idea in mind: to make the players confident,” he said.
«I’m going to be ironic, but… With Mr Quita, the players know the house, how the president works. When I talk to them, they say: ‘We can’t win the games’. I did a video session with Nico Pallois this morning. Ask him how many coaches he’s had here. His concern is not whether I’m here or not, but how to win», he concluded.
