Three months after sexual assault accusation, Rafa Mir returns to the team
Called up for Copa del Rey match
Rafa Mir will return to play for Valencia and has been called up by coach Rubén Baraja for the Copa del Rey match against SD Ejea, corresponding to the second round of the tie, this Wednesday.
The player is now back in the running three months – 96 days – after being a Valencia star and accused of sexual assault. Mir and a friend were accused of sexual assault after the match against Villarreal on August 31. He spent a night in detention and after appearing before a judge, he was released with his passport revoked, a ban on leaving Spain and an obligation to appear in court once a week until his trial date.
The club punished him heavily and he was removed from the group for two games, but he got injured and ended up being out for longer.
