West Ham goalkeeper dies aged 15
Oscar Fairs was part of the Hammers under-15 team and lost his battle with ependymoma
West Ham announced on Friday that Oscar Fairs, goalkeeper for the Hammers’ under-15 team, has died at the age of 15. Oscar had been battling ependymoma, a type of tumour, since August 2023.
In a statement, the London club, through sporting director Mark Noble, remembered the youngster: «Oscar was adored by everyone at the Academy – not only was he a great goalkeeper, he was a true Hammer and a fantastic young man, who will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.»
“He was a nice, happy, well-mannered and polite kid who had such a bright future ahead of him, and it is unimaginably devastating that he was taken away from his family and friends at this age,” the official said.
West Ham said they would pay tribute to Oscar and sent their condolences to his family and friends.
